screen printing

  • During a character design project in my third year of university, I delved into screenprinting for the first time but wanted to maintain the same elements of my practice by not developing the designs digitally, but traditionally with ink drawings. To make these screen prints I first sketched a few designs of the character I had created (Edie) and then took them to the light box tables where I used various concentrations of ink wash to free hand the two seperated layers for the stencil. At this point I I knew I wanted a light and dark layer but wasn’t decided on a strict colour scheme yet.
