18 Going on Extinct was a zine I started whilst in my second year of university to bring about an easy going collaboration between me and my friends surrounding something we all had in common, being at least a little bit emo. The title is a lyric from a fall out boy song that encapsulated how I was feeling about being 19/20 and having to really figure out what I wanted to be doing with my art. The first issue of this zine brings together a collection of my friends from uni and online, discussing the connections between gender identity and expression with being emo. There are currently three issues on this zine, the second is about what made you emo growing up and the third is about the show Twin Peaks, and I plan to continue with the project in the future with more public call out zines on different themes!
